Barton County 4-H joined more than 900 4-H youth on Wednesday, March 26, 4-H Day at the Capitol. 4-H youth from all over the state gathered, representing 88 counties from Missouri. Forty 4-H youth and volunteers from Barton County attended, according to MU Extension 4-H Youth Program Associate Elaine Davis.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Lamar’s Picnic in the Park kicked off its 2025 season on Thursday, March 27, with a wide assortment of food trucks available for those to enjoy from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The food trucks are set up over by the playground. The next Picnic in the Park will be held on Thursday, April 24. Be sure to take advantage of the variety offered.

Aubrey Neher, daughter of Adam and Meagen Neher, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Aubrey’s favorite things to do are showing dogs, playing with friends, cheerleading and football games. Her favorite color is pink.
Students of the week
Lamar Bank & Trust celebrated 100 years of being in business with an open house on Tuesday, March 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over 350 attended the celebration with many coming from quite a distance to enjoy the celebration that was not only a time for current customers to enjoy the fellowship, but many past employees congregated to enjoy each other’s company throughout the day. Cake and punch were served, along with giveaways. A commemorative photo area was offered to those wishing to have their pictures taken. Many new, along with past employees, enjoyed the opportunity to do so. It was a special day filled with gratitude, memories and fun.
