CHERYL (CAIN) ALDERSON
April 18, 2025

Cheryl (Cain) Alderson, 77, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, peacefully went to heaven on April 8, 2025. Cheryl was a cherished sister and aunt, with a warm spirit and a gentle laugh. As a nurse for over 40 years, her compassion for patients was beyond compare. Her devotion to Christ is inspiring and fills our hearts with beautiful memories.
Cheryl was born May 28, 1947, in Springfield, Missouri to Dr. Alvin and Trula (Theel) Cain. She grew up in Lamar, Missouri and was the oldest of three sisters. In 1965, she graduated from Lamar High School. She followed her parents’ footsteps into the medical field. Cheryl first earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and later her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (RN-BSN).
She enjoyed spending quality time with her family. On holidays, her two sisters and families would gather for laughs and homemade pie. Cheryl was married to Larry Alderson from 1969-1986, sharing many memorable years. She moved to Lake of the Ozarks where she enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors from her back porch. She enjoyed life alongside her partner, Barney Alexander and her precious rescue dog Nikki. Family time at the lake was important to her and her nieces and nephew remember fun times jet-skiing and fishing. Cheryl cheered on the Chiefs and Mizzou teams with her constant friend and companion, Harold Brewer.
Cheryl enjoyed being a member of the Laurie-Sunrise Beach Rotary Club. Cheryl was also a member of the Missouri Daughters of the American Revolution, and was active in the MyKee Investment Group.
Cheryl kept God as a forefront in her actions and life. She was an active member of West Lake Christian Church. She loved her friends in the Christian Women’s Fellowship group and their weekly breakfasts.
Her legacy will live on through her sister, Karen (Max) Simmons of Lamar, Missouri; brother-in-law, Robert Selvey of Lamar, Missouri; and her friend, Harold Brewer. She is survived by her nephews and nieces: Dr. Matthew (Michelle) Simmons, Lawrence, Kansas and their children Madden and Mayleigh; Kara (Lee) Eggerman of Lockwood, Missouri, and their children Lucas, Addison, Gage and Gavin; and Sara (Zach) Lovell of Saddlebrooke, Missouri, and their children Emma and Adley. Cheryl has found eternal peace in Heaven alongside her parents, Dr. Alvin and Trula (Theel) Cain; her sister, Marilyn (Cain) Selvey; her niece Lauren Selvey and her special friends, Barney “Al” Alexander and Ed Cooper.
There will be a closed family celebration of life, and a memorial placed at Lake Cemetery in Lamar, MO. Cheryl will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her love, laugher and spirit will forever be remembered.
