Heins sweeps Class 3 long jump

Preston Heins, a junior at Lamar High School, has remained undefeated all season in the long jump, with the exception of one athlete from Rich Hill. Heins was earned the Big 8 Conference Companship and was named District Champ. He then placed first as Class 3 Sectional Champ with a 6.61m jump (21’8.236”). Next stop was the State Championship. Be sure to watch for results. Preston is pictured with two of his jumps, as well as his jump coach, Hallee Gammon. Preston is the son of Andy and Christy Heins.

Lamar Middle School’s first ever softball team finished their season 12-1, earning Big 8 Conference Softball Champs 2024-25. The team outscored their opponents 142-21. This is the seventh grade girls third conference title this year, having earned the title in volleyball, basketball and softball. They also won three tournaments, one in each sport. Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow The Liberal Bulldogs came into the Class 1 District 6 tournament at home as the number two seed. They defeated New Heights 16-0 in the first round and here senior pitcher Jordan Goodell fires a pitch during the 7-2 win over Jasper in the semifinal. Playing first base is Ava Garrett. The Lady Bulldogs dropped the championship game 2-1 to top-seeded Lockwood Thursday.

Meet BCCF Board member Lacey Peterson
The comencement ceremony for the 2025 class of Jasper High School was held at Tabler Gymnasium on Sunday, May 18, 3 p.m. The class entered the gym to the processional, followed with the National Anthem being led and performed by the Japser High School Ensemble. Alyssa Osborne was named valedictorian and gave her address, followed with Ellie Cawyer, salutatorian.
