BETTY L. KUHN

May 21, 2025

Betty L. Kuhn of Lamar, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of Saturday, May 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was surrounded not only by those who loved her most, but also by a lifetime of memories shaped by devotion, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her community.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Kimberly Kuhn of Richmond, VA; her son, Mark Kuhn, and his wife, Hazel Kuhn of Enterprise, AL; and her grandchildren, Harrison D. Kuhn, Hazel Wyche, and Anna Wyche.
She also leaves behind her brother, Don Keithly, his wife, LaMalva, and sister, Deb Keithly.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger D. Kuhn; her son-in-law, Fletcher Flynn Wyche, her brother Robert Keithly, her sister Marcella Chote, and her parents, Leon and Helen Keithly.
Betty lived a life full of purpose, passion, and generosity. She was one of the driving forces behind Kuhn Brothers Orchard and Farm, where her dedication helped shape a family business rooted in tradition, hard work, and love of the land. Her influence could be seen in everything from the care of the crops to the warmth extended to everyone who came through the Apple Barn door.
In addition to her contributions to the family farm, Betty worked for many years alongside Tom O’Sullivan at O'Sullivan Industries and later with O'Sullivan Properties in Lamar. Her tireless Spirit and devotion to her hometown were perhaps most evident through her leadership in Plaza Rescue, the project she founded to restore and modernize the historic Plaza Theater on the square in Lamar.
Betty was also a fierce supporter of local businesses, often working quietly but tirelessly to ensure the community's best interests were always at the forefront.
A proud and active member of Lamar Methodist Church, Community Betterment, and the Master Gardeners, Betty was widely known for her green thumb and boundless gardening enthusiasm. She found joy in travel—especially when shared with those she loved—and she was a devoted animal lover who cherished and cared deeply for all animals, especially her 4-legged companions throughout her life.
Her legacy is one of service, love, and deep-rooted compassion.
To honor her extraordinary life, the family invites the community to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 28, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Kuhn Family Pavilion in Wyatt Earp Park on the square in Lamar. All are welcome to attend, celebrate, and share memories of Betty's remarkable life and lasting contributions.
