HARVEY FRANKLIN SUTHERLAND

November 17, 2025

Harvey Franklin Sutherland, 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 14, 2025. Harvey was born on June 11, 1933, in Fair Grove, Missouri, to Tracy and Bula Sutherland. Harvey graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1951 and afterwards helped on the family farm until moving to Point Lookout, Missouri, to attend School of the Ozarks to learn the dairy business, graduating from there in 1958.
Harvey met and married his first love, Glenola Bruffey, on August 8, 1958, and they were devoted to one another for over 62 years. Harvey and Glenola served the Lord together over the years and made homes in Branson, Fulton, Nevada, and Lamar, Missouri, as Harvey’s work as a dairy herdsman progressed. Harvey also worked for Thorco Industries in Lamar and later drove a cab which provided services to senior citizens.
Harvey loved Jesus and made his relationship with the Lord a priority through prayer, being a student of God’s word, teaching Sunday School, serving in church leadership, and volunteering with The Gideons organization for many years.
In 2022, Harvey moved to Maranatha Village in Springfield, Missouri, to be near family. There he met many dear friends and his second love, Martha Henderson. He and Martha enjoyed time together at church and Bible study, working puzzles, and watching football and Wheel of Fortune. Martha’s love for Harvey was a blessing to him and his family.
Harvey was preceded in death by his wife Glenola; his parents; sisters Ella (Sutherland) Rogers, Jenny Sutherland, and Bertha Sutherland; brother, Jerry Sutherland; and brothers-in-law Johnny Rogers and Jerry Bruffey.
Harvey is survived by his brothers-in-law Wayne Bruffey (Rita) and Keith Bruffey (Dottie); sisters-in-law Martha Bruffey, Darlene Sitton, Maxine Bruffey, and Celia Sutherland; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend, Martha Henderson.
Services will be held at Greenlawn North, 3506 N. National, Springfield, Missouri, on Monday, November 17, with visitation from 1:30-2:30 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
