LOCKWOOD- A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Stoney Point Assembly of God near Jerico Springs, for Dennis Orrell Offutt, affectionately referred to by his sons as DaddyO (Daddy Offutt), 85, who died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Rev. Grant Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Amos Cemetery, northwest of Lockwood.

The family wishes to echo Mr. Offutt’s lifelong desire that we all do our very best to be peaceable, kind and respectful to one another and most of all try to follow closely in Jesus’ footsteps (1Peter 2:21). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Glenda Offutt; a brother, Darrell Offutt and wife Frieda, Neosho; his three children, sons Derren and wife Julie, Plano, Texas and Lance and wife Elita, Frisco, Texas and a stepdaughter, Danielle Alarcon and husband Hugh, Kingsport, Tenn. and four grandchildren, Jade, Nathan, Amber and Ava.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald; his mother, Vinita and his father, Jim.

Mr. Offutt was born at the family farm north of Golden City, Dade County, in 1937. From a poor farm boy, to the Navy, two college degrees and many high-tech engineering leadership roles in the federal government and private sectors – he achieved his goals with quiet self-determination and humility. He was absolutely the quintessential example of living the “American Dream”, full of success through hard work, determination and imitative.
