LIBERAL- A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 27, at Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar, for Carol Jean Pierce, 74, Liberal, who died Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Verdella Freewill Baptist Church or a church of donor’s choice, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Charles; her children, Charlene Strong and husband Dustin, Pittsburg, Kan., Danny Pierce and wife Caitlin, Liberal, Bobby Pierce and wife Angela, Rogers, Ark. and Dwight and wife Amber, Jasper. She is also survived by grandchildren, Benjamin, Alexander, Eleanor, Cody, Casey, Marshall, Hazel and Grant and may other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Ami Pierce.

Mrs. Pierce was born in Pittsburg, Kan., to Thelma (Miller) and Leonard Coots. She grew up in the Pittsburg area, graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1967. After school she trained in Kansas City and then worked in Pittsburg for the Census Bureau.

She married Charles Pierce on Sept. 10, 1971, at the Nazarene Church in Pittsburg. The lived on their farm south of Liberal, where she raised her family and lots of baby calves.

Mrs. Pierce loved God. She was a faithful wife and mother. She was selfless and was always there for her family, spending quality time with her children and taking them places. She loved her children and it showed in the way she supported them in all that they did. There was not a negative bone in her body and she lived her life as a great example of the Fruits of the Spirit.
