The Barton County Retired Educators met Tuesday, Sept. 3, for their first regular meeting of the new school year. Betsy Ulrich, preschool specialist, center, was presented a Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation grant for her preschool classroom. This picture was taken at 9 a.m. on Labor Day, at the Lamar City Park. Many took advantage of the cooler weather as they traveled the walking trail.

The sixth grade Lamar Tiger football team traveled to take on the Carl Junction Bulldogs on Saturday, Aug. 31, bringing home a 20-6 victory. Members of the team include No. 2 Keaton Wolfe, No. 3 Bryceton Sipes, No. 5 Tyler Miller, No. 6 Ethan Azua, No. 7 Devon Mitchell, No. 8 Creed Robison, No. 10 Cash Brown, No. 12 Brennon Scheetz, No. 13 Kellie Wilson, No. 15 Ayden Jones, No. 20 Balum Walters, No. 21 Sawyer Jones, No. 23 Harley Markus, No. 27 Owen Blanchard, No. 44 Mac McCulley, No. 46 Trevon Forst, No. 55 Chase Brown, No. 56 Reese Manalem and No. 82 Lucas Garfield. Coaches for the team are Anthony Jones, Scott Brown, Ben Garfield, Chuck Wolfe and Zach McCulley. The next game for Lamar’s third through sixth grades, will be facing the Webb City Cardinal Red teams at Webb City, followed by their first home game at Thomas M. O’Sullivan Stadium set for September 14, against Joplin Blue.
