YMCA Founders Dinner draws large attendance

During the evening, Matt Brown presented Roberts with a check for $200,000 from the Lamar Community Betterment Council Inc., with funds donated by a local couple and Robb Hodson with the First Baptist Church of Lamar was presented a check for $500 from Roberts. The First Baptist Church is one of three facilities that were recognized and presented a check for $500 for use of their facilities currently housing YMCA programs in Lamar. The other facilities include the Barton County Senior Center and the Lamar Christian Church.

Golden City homecoming royalty crowned
Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow Liberal high school senior Taylor Swarnes prepares to knock down a three pointer during Friday night's homecoming win over visiting Drexel, 51-18. According to MSHSAA's website, Brandi Goodell's team is now 17-6. Swarnes recently eclipsed the 1,500 point mark in her career.

Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow Friday night, senior Kylee Melton was crowned 2024-25 Liberal High School basketball homecoming queen. She is shown with her court, Izabelle Sprouls (left) and Libby Stebbins. The flower girl and crown bearer were Ella Spurling and Kyson Adamson. The Lady Bulldogs won their game prior to coronation 51-18 over Drexel. The boys dropped a close one, 48-45.
