Barton County Chamber of Commerce/Kristy Robertson Nominations and interviews began in February for candidates to be included in the various Barton County Chamber of Commerce recognition awards that were presented to a full gathering held Thursday, April 10, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Memorial Hall in Lamar. The Best of Barton County Awards & Luncheon is always an exciting opportunity to gather and honor the outstanding businesses and community leaders of Barton County who have shown exceptional dedication to economic growth, development and service to others. Watch for an article announcing the winners, along with their photos, to appear in the April 23 edition of the Democrat.

Josie Coy, daughter of Matthew and Angela Coy, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. In her spare time Josie likes to draw. She plays volleyball. She has a dog and a cat. Her favorite subject is Social Studies. Things important to her are her family, God and spending time with people.
