LARRY “BOGIE” BOGART

SHELDON-Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada for Larry Dale “Bogie” Bogart, 62, Sheldon, who died at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, following a lengthy illness. Rev. Kay Zimmer will officiate. Burial will be in Sheldon Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Leslie; three children, Stacy Taylor and Melissa Griffitt, Sheldon and Michael Bogart and wife Shelby, Nevada; seven grandchildren, Anthony Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, Alicia Taylor, Mandy Radspinner, Cori Griffitt, Riley Griffitt and Kimber Bogart; three great-grandchildren, Bailee Buck, Levi Taylor and Emily Taylor; one sister, Roberta Cassatt, Nevada; a brother, Robert L. Bogart, Sheldon, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Edward Allen Bogart.

Mr. Bogart was born May 2, 1954, in Lamar, to Robert Franklin and Georgia Corine (Ford) Bogart. He was reared in the Sheldon area and was a 1972 graduate of Bronaugh High School. Following high school he worked for Thorco in Lamar for four years. In December of 1976 he began working for 3M in Nevada, where he continued to work until his retirement in 2013. He was a lifelong resident of the Sheldon area and a member of the Bronaugh United Methodist Church. He loved to fish and hunt, but mainly enjoyed being with his grandchildren.

He married Leslie Gintz in Lamar on Feb. 25, 1977.
