LAMAR- A private family burial will be held in Memory Gardens Cemetery for Ernest Wayne Owen, 81, Lamar, who died Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

A public memorial service and visitation will be scheduled in the near future to celebrate his life.

Contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of Daniel Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Willa; five daughters, Rhonda Hackathorne, Sheldon, Terri Chadd, Nevada, Mo., Edeana Castlebury and husband Joe, Nevada, Mo., Dana Evans and husband Jason, Fredonia, Kan. and Deana LeGrand, Lamar; three siblings, Roy Owen and wife Linda, Lamar, Marjorie Crabtree and husband Sam, Lamar and Carolyn Fowler and husband Gary, Sheldon; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a baby brother, Leslie Owen.

Mr. Owen was born July 25, 1938, in Lamar, to Ernest Woodrow and Thelma Viola (Giger) Owen. He graduated from Lamar High School in the class of 1956 and on June 23, 1979, he married Willa Mae Owen, also in Lamar.

He was a cattle farmer and had worked at Thorco for 34 years.
