Memorial Day Service moved to Moore Pavilion

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger VFW Post 3691 and American Legion 209 members participated in the Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 26, at Moore Pavilion in Lamar. The service had been moved from the Barton County Memorial Park due to excessive rainfall prior to and during the service. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Lamar Police Officer Dakota Heller was sworn in by City Clerk Felicia Costley prior to the May 27 city council meeting. His badge was pinned on him by his mother, Amy Heller. Officer Heller began his duties with Lamar following graduation from the MSSU Police Academy on May 9. He had previously worked at the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department as a corrections officer.
