Ed Emery has passed

It is with a heavy heart that the Lamar Democrat announces the passing of Ed Emery.

Emery, a Lamar resident and Republican, served Missouri for eight years as a state representative and eight years in the state senate.

At the time of his death, Emery, was in the running to replace Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler, who will be running next year for the vacancy of retiring US Senator Roy Blunt.

Emery collapsed while giving a speech at a women’s organization event in Moberly, in Randolph County. He had been a patient at University Hospital in Columbia, MO.
